art is the only way to run away without leaving home (2022) This is a handmade object blanket that I both sewed and printed. I created four large 32 x 32 inch wooden stamps by laser-rastering my own drawings, a process that took eight hours per stamp. These stamps became the surface for layered prints, over which I added a sprayed stencil of the phrase “art is the only way to run away without leaving home.” The blanket embodies the act of escape through making. Hours of drawing, rastering, printing, and sewing became a space where I could step outside daily life. In the end, this object is not only something I can sleep under, but also a reminder of how art itself becomes a place of refuge.
